A Letter to God

Every morning in Baguio, the thick fog rolls over the pines, mirroring the heavy cloud inside my mind. As a junior architect, the expectations to build a perfect career felt like a skyscraper collapsing on my chest. I spent my nights staring at blueprints, my hands shaking as I held my drafting pen, wondering if I was ever enough for my parents' sacrifices.

My Nanay would often leave a warm mug of ginger tea on my desk, whispering, 'Magpahinga ka muna, anak.' But I couldn't rest. I was so caught up in the 'what ifs' that I stopped seeing the beauty of the city I loved. The constant palpitations and the suffocating feeling in the evenings became my new normal, a quiet battle I fought alone while the rest of the family slept.

One Sunday, while walking through Burnham Park, I watched an elderly man tending to his flowers, completely unbothered by the passing crowds. I realized I was so busy drawing the structure of a future life that I forgot to live in the present. I sat on a bench and finally whispered to God, 'I am tired of carrying this weight alone.' In that moment, the anxiety didn't vanish, but for the first time, I felt the lightness of surrendering my blueprints to a greater Architect.

HOPE's Response

A reply to the letter

It is brave to admit when the weight of expectation becomes too heavy to bear. In our culture, where we carry the weight of family pride and career advancement, it is easy to forget that you were created to be a person, not just a project. Your worth is not tied to your productivity or the blueprints you draft, but to the One who designed your very soul.

Remember the promise in Philippians 4:6-7, which reminds us not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, present our requests to God. His peace—the kind that defies human logic—is meant to guard your heart and mind. Let this peace replace the pressure you have been carrying.

A Prayer from HOPE

Dear God, thank You for being the Architect of my life who knows my frame and understands my struggle with anxiety. I surrender my need for perfection and my fear of the future into Your hands, trusting that You hold every detail of my path. Please quiet my racing heart, help me to rest in Your presence, and remind me daily that I am already enough in Your eyes. In Jesus name Amen.
