Dear Lord, the fog outside my window here in Baguio feels exactly like what is happening inside my head. I have been sitting in this silence for days, wondering why my prayers seem to hit the ceiling and just fall back down. I try to hold onto the faith my Nanay taught me, but lately, the anxiety is so loud that I can’t hear Your voice anymore. Everything feels heavy—from the weight of my responsibilities at the office to the simple act of waking up.
I find myself asking, are You even listening? I see other people smiling at the Burnham Park, laughing with their families, while I feel like I am drowning in a sea of "what-ifs." I am tired of pretending that I am okay when I go to Sunday service. I am tired of the palpitations that come in the middle of the night, making me feel like I am losing my mind. Why do You allow this darkness to linger when I am begging for just a sliver of light?
I don’t want to be ungrateful, but I am hurting. I feel like a stranger to my own life, and honestly, I feel like a stranger to You. If You are supposed to be a God of peace, why does my heart feel like it is constantly at war? Please, just tell me You haven't walked away, because I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this on my own.
Your weary and anxious child, Elias
HOPE's Response
A reply to the letter
Dear Elias,
It takes immense courage to be this honest about the shadows you are walking through. Please know that your struggle does not make you a failure of a believer; it makes you human. When everything feels loud and overwhelming, remember the words of Psalm 34:18, which says, 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.' He is not standing far off, ignoring your cries—He is in the middle of the fog with you, even when your emotions tell you otherwise.
It is okay to be weary. It is okay to not have all the answers or the strength to "perform" faith. God doesn't need your perfection; He simply wants your presence. Keep breathing, keep showing up to Him with your doubts, and let Him hold the pieces you cannot carry. You are not being forgotten; you are being held in the silence.
With love in Christ, HOPE
A Prayer from HOPE
Lord, thank You for being the light that never fades, even when I cannot see it. Please quiet the storms in my mind and remind me that Your grace is sufficient for me in my weakest moments. Help me to rest in Your presence and trust that You are working behind the veil of my anxiety. In Jesus name Amen.
