Dear God, the silence in this dormitory is deafening. I find myself staring at the wall at 3 AM, wondering if the sacrifice I am making for my family back in Iloilo is truly worth the price of my soul. Every day feels like a blur of cleaning other people's houses while my own children are growing up through filtered photos on a screen. My eldest just turned ten, and I missed it again. Why did You place me here, so far away from the scent of rain on the soil and the sound of my Tatay’s voice?
I feel like a ghost in my own life. I send my remittances religiously, feeling the pressure to be the provider, yet I am starving for connection. I ask myself, have You forgotten me in this desert? Is this all there is to my purpose—to trade my presence for money? I feel so small and invisible behind these high-rise buildings and the hot, foreign wind.
What do I do when the longing becomes a physical ache in my chest? I look at my phone, hoping for a message, but sometimes the screen stays dark and I just weep until my eyes are swollen. I am so tired of being strong for everyone else. Please, I just need to know if You are even here with me, or if I am truly alone in this cycle of endless labor.

HOPE's Response
A reply to the letter
Dear Rowena, your tears are not hidden from the One who fashioned the stars and yet knows the exact number of hairs on your head. It is not a sign of weak faith to feel the weight of your separation; rather, it is proof of the deep, sacrificial love you hold for your children. You are not a ghost, and you are not invisible—you are seen, heard, and cherished by the Creator of all.
In Psalm 34:18, it is written: 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.' He is not just waiting for you at the finish line; He is sitting with you in that 3 AM silence, catching every tear. Your value is not defined by your labor or the remittances you send, but by whose you are. You are a daughter of the Most High, and your present struggle is not your final destination.
With love in Christ, HOPE
A Prayer from HOPE
Dear God, thank You for holding Rowena in the desert of her loneliness. Please wrap Your arms around her heart, mend the pieces that feel broken by distance, and remind her that she is never alone. Grant her the strength to face each day, the peace to rest in Your presence, and the assurance that her sacrifice is seen by You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
